In the buildup to the Iraq war in 2003 there was a feeling that the conflict were beeing ignited by defence contractor lobbyists. In my first video "The Street Lobbyist" I was trying to put myself into the mindset of a lobbyist, collecting money for the weapons industry in the streets of Oslo. Later I made several similar style videos visiting for example a far right rally and the Marihuana Parade.
Domestication
The Natural history museums created by creationists in the US inspired this performance. In these museums you could bring your family to learn about how dinosaurs and humans lived together in the past. I built my own dinosaur bicycle and rode it across the Bible Belt of Norway. From Stavanger to Kristiansand.
Who Deserves a Yacht?
One of the richest men in Norway got caught cheating on his taxes concerning a luxury yacht of his. In his defence he claimed that he needed a yacht for the signal effect it had when he was doing business. When i read about this I decided that I also needed a luxury yacht for the signal effect it could give me as an artist.
Equity the Board Game
After the credit crunch in 2007 I was reading a lot about economy and I was getting interested in the connections between psychology, imagination and the economy. Together with Jan Richard Svendsen we made a board game inspired by real research on the psychology of finance bubbles. Equity is a fun game where the players bid against eachother to buy the best stocks and artworks. Yoo can read more about it here.
The Critical Tourist Map of Oslo
After seeing the official tourist map of Oslo I got inspired to create a map that was not based on ads and commercial interests. My map would be ad free. And since every other tourist map I knew of only showed positive and pretty things, I thought my map should focus on the negative.
The New Caste Grounds
"Nye Slottsparken" was a consept competition held in 2026. We asked creatives from any field to come up with proposals for the future uses of the royal castle and park in Oslo. Imagening a future where the current use would no longer be relevant.
We received a lot of suggestions, and 16 of the best ones were exhibited at Studio Halv. We also made a catalouge and a webpage with all the proposals. See them here.
Sculptures
On my first visit to the US I came across a playground where one of the toys was a fighter jet for toddlers. It inspired me to create a mean fighter jet for the kids in Norway as well. Contrasting our self-proclaimed image of peace nation with the actual aggressive policies of our governemt at the time. (Later i realized that the toy in the US was a spacecraft.)
The scupltures below is one experiment with discarded bicycles and one wooden CNC-carved figure for the Hvitsten art festival.
